End of Summer Clearance

See that? Originally $4.99 but I got this shimmery silver sandal for only $3.74 at CVS!

August is the month to begin thinking about what you will inevitably need next summer and start looking for hot options to stow away in the back of the closet after picking them up for next to nothing. I got my current "flip flops" at Target in May of 2008 for $4.99 and, despite some major holes beginning to wear through, I was determined to make em last til the end of summer. But for $3.74, I can afford to SPLURG. Check out the cork foot bed. LOVE IT.

I'm not talking about buying stuff you don't need just because its cheap tho. Instead, spend an evening looking through your closet and if any of the following summer staples are worn out, stretched out, beyond repair, or just missing from your wardrobe, start surveying the end of summer clearance racks for replacements that you can sock away for next year. That way, you can avoid blowing a wad next Spring when the prices are set HIGH because the retail world is trying to take advantage of your vulnerable, winter weary yearnings for colorful and shiny things:
- swimsuit
- sandals
- shorts
- sun hat
- sunglasses
- those sheer, flowing shirts that make the hot, sweaty days bearable.

  1. As I've told you before, Frugalista, your tasteful providence inspires me. In my case, though, being frugal means buying only the 50% off items at Savers instead of paying full price. It also means I won't be taking you on any dates this semester ...
